Man in spotlight with another old-stager
Manfred Man Ka-leung's touch with the pensioners was in the spotlight again when Sound Of Silence bobbed up to win his fifth race in an all-weather track 26-1 surprise. Ridden by leading apprentice Derek Leung Ka-chun, Sound Of Silence made the most of an inside barrier and managed to stave off the finishes of Couldn't Care Less and Lazy Buddies in a Class Five finish where the vintage of the placings averaged better than eight. 'He's a nine-year-old, but he is still trying hard, he has some form on the all-weather surface in the past and has dropped to a very low handicap,' said Man. 'With Derek's claim, it brought him in even lower and that wasn't a great field even for a Class Five.' Man has led the way with 'Dad's Army' horses so far this season - winning two with Harry Harry, one with Happy Master, Great Achievement and now Sound Of Silence, while the only winning 'youngster' was the rising six-year-old Beautiful Dreamer.
