Best feet forward

There's a reason why we wear boots and shoes in the winter, and the cold has little to do with it. The fact is we're simply too embarrassed to show our dry, cracked heels and gnarly toes to the disapproving public.

Let's face it. Even Manolos can't make unsightly feet look good. The problem is that some days we just don't have the time for a spa treatment or even an at-home pedi. Not to worry. We have come up with a way to incorporate sole-soothing steps into your night-time routine to make sure that pretty feet can be yours once again with minimal fuss.

Nightly Zen time

Whether you relax by soaking in the tub or zoning out in front of the TV, you can amp up the pamper factor by throwing in a foot bath as well. The Soothing Aqua Therapy by Aveda (HK$320) contains salts from the Dead Sea to hydrate and soften dry and stressed skin. Pour a handful into warm running water if you're drawing a bath, or add some to a basin of warm water in front of the sofa, then let the aromatic salts soothe your skin and stimulate your senses.

Pay a little more attention to your feet when you have your nightly shower or bath. After the relaxing foot soak, target the particularly stubborn rough patches on your feet with an exfoliating scrub. The Peninsula Spa by ESPA sells an Exfoliating Body Polish (HK$460) that contains apricot kernels to scrub away dead skin cells, while aloe and spearmint hydrate and refresh the newer skin underneath.
