Container firm stars on dull day

SHENZHEN B stocks slipped marginally lower yesterday, with the Credit Lyonnais Shenzhen B index finishing at 1,147.78.

The biggest gainer of the day was China International Marine Container, which jumped 7.7 per cent, to close at $7. The stock has been falling since its listing last month.

China Vanke, which was involved in a row with brokerage J & A Securities, recorded no transaction after trading resumed on Wedesday.

It remained unchanged yesterday at $8.40, although the stock was offered at $8.75.

China Southern Glass was the most actively traded counter yesterday, with $1.34 million worth of shares changing hands. It was unchanged at $12.20.

Turnover was thin at $3.7 million.
