Branch also in Causeway Bay

Grub: Japanese barbeque or yakiniku. Soup noodles, tempura, sashimi and small a la carte dishes are also available.

Vibe: A great atmosphere, especially if you like Japanese culture. There are two dining areas: one features traditional, low seating, while the other has ordinary dining tables and chairs for those who are not used to kneeling to dine.

Who to bring: A small group of friends who love Japanese food. It's not a big place, but it's spacious enough to avoid being engulfed in barbecue smoke.

What's hot: This place is all about the beef - order the wagyu if you don't mind paying. On your first visit, the lunch menu is highly recommended to get a idea of what's on offer. There is a choice of almost 10 different sets, starting at HK$70.

One of the HK$90 sets includes strips of beef to grill, a sashimi special with tuna and squid, mixed tempura with shrimp and vegetables, Japanese steamed egg, miso soup, rice, and ice cream for dessert. It's a great-value way of trying the menu's best items.

What's not: Unless you go at lunch time, a meal here is pretty pricy - there are no dinner sets.

Another let-down is the grill itself. Despite the traditional Japanese setting, the actual barbecue isn't the genuine charcoal grill you might expect, but an electric heater with a net.

Cost: Lunch: HK$70 to HK$200 per person. Expect to pay HK$500 per person for dinner.
