Cultural quarter adds to neighbourhood's appeal
Greenwich, best known for the Meridian line, the place where 125 years ago this month it was decided every place on Earth would be measured in terms of its distance east or west, has become popular for its boutiques, music and nautical antiques.
The Greenwich Meridian is now marked at night by a laser beam emitted northwards from the observatory.
Due to be completed in late 2011, Greenwich Creekside, which includes the 17-storey The Vertex Tower a development project undertaken by Telford Homes in partnership with King Sturge is set in the heart of Greenwich's thriving community, which is conveniently close to a wide range of business and recreation facilities.
The development project borders the Laban Dance Centre and permission has been granted to create a new 'cultural quarter' including a jazz venue, theatre, bars, restaurants and galleries.

He said the district now had excellent transport links and had become popular with people who worked in the city or Canary Wharf.
'There is a community feel in the area, we have the market three times a week, the river, historic attractions, Greenwich Park, along with plenty of shops and a wide choice of restaurants,' he said.
Stunning attractions such as the Cutty Sark, Royal Greenwich Observatory and the Maritime Museum are complemented by a series of high-quality developments adding a modern element to Greenwich.
Greenwich will be the venue for several Olympic and Paralympic events in 2012. While the London Olympics is a once-in-a-lifetime event, the infrastructure improvements and regeneration that it is bringing will be further reaching. The Olympics are seen as the catalyst for redevelopment and regeneration throughout east and southeast London.
Wilkinson said Greenwich Creekside was in an unrivalled location for so much that London had to offer - the buzz of Greenwich, the proximity to Central London and The City, and shopping at Canary Wharf.
