This week we test: night cream

Night cream hydrates your skin while you sleep. Make sure you choose the right sort of cream for your skin type for optimal results.

Darphin Hydraskin Night Relaxing Cream (HK$550/50ml)

The smooth texture makes application easy and it is very nourishing. Sandalwood and extract of chicory give a powerful soothing effect, calming stressed skin. Its rich texture is only really suitable for dry skin. It's a bit pricey, too.

Two Girls Night Cream (HK$330/50ml)

This bottle has an innovative pump which means you don't have to dunk your fingers in and cross-contaminate the product. Not hugely moisturising but quickly absorbed, this is suited more to combination/oily skin, leaving you with smooth cheeks when you wake up.

Ettusais Emollient Supplizer (HK$220/29g)

Although specially formulated for sensitive and acne-prone skin, this white cream is a bit oily and takes quite a while time to be absorbed. The moisturising effect is satisfactory but you may find a thin film of grease remaining in the morning.

Clinique Youth Surge Night (HK$550/50ml)

No youth surging found here. The moisturiser is rich and satisfyingly soothing but some might find it a bit too much.

Barbie Plastic Smooth Mantra Night Cream (HK$188/30g)

The moisturising effect is average, but the yellow colour and the sticky texture are scary. Also it smells, ironically, like plastic.
