There was no shortage of people in crazy (and lazy) costumes during this All Hallow's Eve, but special credit must go to the TakeOut Comedy gang for an effort that showed local relevance and Canto-creativity. Leader and TakeOut head lunatic Jami Gong and a dozen of his crew stormed Central on Friday and Saturday nights dressed as mahjong tiles. It wasn't just any 13 tiles. They comprised the luckiest of winning combinations.

'We are going around SoHo, Central and LKF to reap havoc,' Gong promised before Saturday night. 'Or at least to make people laugh and smile. There are 13 of us and we are 'sup-sam-you'. If you know how to play mahjong, you know that is the rarest, highest winning hand.'

The jokers were especially prominent on Friday, before the Saturday night hordes of gawkers clogged up Lan Kwai Fong. Starting from their Elgin Street club, the mahjong tiles high-fived people along the Mid-Levels escalator and danced on D'Aguilar Street, drawing quite a bit of attention. It certainly beats wearing an Obama mask. For a glimpse of the action, go to YouTube and search 'mahjong tiles gone wild'.
