'Fresh is doing the trick'
Fresh is best for Whatafantasy, who finally threw off his maiden tag after 23 starts of trying yesterday and gave punters a good whack around the ears in doing so. At odds of 38-1, Whatafantasy (Way Leung Ming-wai), pressed forward around the first turn to get handy to the lead from a wide draw and just kept on going under his light weight. Trainer Me Tsui Yu-sak said he had tried to keep Whatafantasy fresh since taking him over last season and it seemed to be doing the trick. 'I don't run him too much now but his form had been quite OK,' he said. 'He was a maiden here before today and he was probably lucky to win - I don't think any of the favoured horses performed as well as expected. He was just out there doing his best and nothing was able to beat him.' The race featured long-odds runners in first, second and fourth, while heavily backed Sevens Heaven bled, well supported Sohna was caught wide and Forest Star ran into traffic problems.
