About 47 per cent of 949 kindergartens and nurseries in Hong Kong are too close to main roads, exposing their pupils to a relatively high risk of asthma from traffic-related pollution, said Friends of the Earth. The group said the kindergartens were within 150 metres of a main road with heavy traffic - too close for schools, according to California studies - and urged the government to take prompt action to reduce traffic-related pollution.
