Focus on non-materialistic dating

Wong Yat-Hei

To help young people realise there's more to love and dating than money, the Family Planning Association of Hong Kong is hosting Sweet Journey HK$99. The competition seeks ideas on how to go on a date with only HK$99.

Couples aged between 16 and 30 years old living in Hong Kong are eligible to enter the competition. They have to come up with a four-hour HK$99 date. The top three proposals will be invited to carry out their plan on December 5 and it will be recorded on camera. Selected couples will get two tickets to Ocean Park and the winning couple will get buffet coupons.

Grace Lee Ming-ying, the association's education officer, said: 'People in Hong Kong seem to have the misconception that showing love means taking your partner to expensive dinners and buying pricey gifts. We hope to raise people's awareness that love can be expressed in other ways.'

Download application forms at www.famplan.org.hk/ and fax to 2919 7790 or post to the Education Division, FPAHK, 10/F, Southorn Centre, 10 Hennessy Road, Wan Chai, by November 20. Put 'Sweet Journey HK$99' on the envelope or the fax
