Triathlon is a great sport

I recently watched a television programme on the Ironman Triathlon. I would like to recommend triathlon to all teenagers as it can help build self-esteem. It comprises running, swimming and cycling.

The sport makes people realise that everybody has their own talent. For example, those who are not good at swimming could do well in the other two categories and win a race.

Teenagers who take part in the sport will learn the value of hard work and perseverance.

They will also learn to set goals and improve their time management skills because triathletes have to finish the race within a certain time.

Triathlon can help young people be responsible and achieve success in life.

Thank you for your letter, Pik-wah. Ironman is called that for a very good reason. Those athletes are tough! One of the best things about this sport is that you don't get bored in your training. You use all your muscles and in a variety of ways. Cycling uses the front of the thighs and swimming uses the shoulders more. Running uses the back of the legs.

Any sport which gets people up and moving is good. But triathlon can be a bit of a lonely sport as you are never part of a team but always competing as an individual. It will certainly be an exercise of commitment and endurance.
