One of the city's underrated design firms has just won an international award for its work on one of Hong Kong's underrated hotels. On Monday in New York, at the 2009 Gold Key Awards for excellence in hospitality design, local group AB Concept scored two big prizes in what is reportedly the industry's leading global design competition. The firm, established 10 years ago by directors Ed Ng (left in picture) and Terrence Ngan, won the best casual dining venue for Jen Cafe in Western's Hotel Jen. It also grabbed the best lobby/entrance award for work on the Shangri-La's Far Eastern Plaza Hotel in Tainan, Taiwan. They were the only Asian interior design team to be recognised. 'We aim for contemporary and timeless chic,' Ng said. Congrats to the duo.
