Ex-agony aunt analyses Shanghai Disney affair
Much ink has been spilled over Mickey Mouse politics and economics since Shanghai made its long-expected announcement that it would build a Disneyland.
But none quite matched the impromptu analysis offered by former radio agony aunt Pamela Pak Wan-kam. True to form, Pak looked at the latest news in terms of the often tortured relationships between men and women she used to analyse for her radio listeners. She was speaking offstage while her beau, Paul Tse Wai-chun (couple pictured), the eccentric lawmaker who represents tourism, was taking part in RTHK's City Forum.
Likening Hong Kong to a doting wife long suspicious of her husband (Disney) for keeping a mistress (Shanghai) on the mainland, she said the mistress had finally come forward and announced she was starting a family of her own (building Shanghai Disneyland) with her man.
'Like everyone else, even Disney is keeping a mistress on the mainland,' she said.
Let's hope no other hidden mainland mistresses emerge, otherwise no one will bother to visit the real wife in Hong Kong.
