Model an unwelcome face of heritage building

Nestled near a busy junction of Bonham Road in Mid-Levels is a beautiful four-storey building that dates back to the end of the second world war.

It would have been a small corner of peace and quiet where passers-by could contemplate one of the last remaining heritage buildings in the area. Except that the owner of the ground and first-floor flats has leased them to Slim Beauty, the salon chain, which has occupied the ground floor and put up a giant poster of pseudo-model Chrissie Chau Sau-na, blocking the entire first floor (pictured). With due respect to her 32D physique, some of us are getting a little oversaturated by her omnipresence across the city and through media outlets. There are so many modern and ordinary buildings in the area that Slim Beauty could have leased the premises from, but no, it had to pick a heritage building and then ruin its best features. Clearly, it didn't have the slightest interest in the building other than its location, otherwise it wouldn't have defaced the heritage frontage. I guess money talks and culture walks in this sad town of ours.
