gadget: Windows 7. The new OS is neat and fast. A long-awaited upgrade from the frustrating Vista.

cd: Rihanna's Rated R. The Umbrella star makes a powerful return with the tear-inducing Russian Roulette.

dvd: Up. Fly up to the sky with a grumpy old man and curious little boy in this adorable animation.

movie: A Christmas Carol. Comedy favourite Jim Carrey is back in time for the holiday season as a 3D old miser.

book: The Twilight Saga Collection by Stephanie Meyer. The second movie, New Moon, isn't out until December 17, so there's time to review the books.

gadget: Dell Studio 17 Touch. The first multi-touch laptop by Dell goes on sale next month.
