Despite Happy Zero's comprehensive Sprint Trial victory, there was no shortage of optimism from those who finished behind him, headed by Sacred Kingdom's jockey Brett Prebble.

'He ran super. It was identical to the first time I won on him before he went to Singapore - he went bag quickly then blew out,' Prebble said.

'When he peaks on it he really weakens and looks a bit common but he will improve a lot. He's an older horse now, 20 pounds heavier than he's ever been and had five months since he ran. If he can get the extra fitness into him that will bring him right on and if he can be just 10 per cent more comfortable in the feet, he'll show up on December 13 close to his best again.'

Derek Cruz believes Joy And Fun's showing proves he deserves a spot in the Sprint.
