Chef lied to police about being robbed

A cook who lied to police that he had been robbed and stripped to his underpants had also pledged fake gold necklaces to pawnshops for more than HK$74,000, Kowloon City Court heard yesterday. Chan King-wai, 22, pleaded guilty to charges including conspiracy to defraud and misleading a police officer. The offences took place between October 5 and 12.
