We also make an effort to dress smart. Heidi wore a black polo shirt, while Shirley was in a blouse and a pair of dark blue jeans.

Vivian wore a long-sleeved, white shirt, which went really well with her black trousers. Everyone looked stylish.

The day started with a coach journey to Kam Tin. By the time we arrived, it was 10.30am. By 11am we were cooking the food.

The barbecue lasted until about 2pm. We took a lot of photographs. After the barbecue, we played games.

Rain and Vivian came up with the games, which included singing and dancing.

We all had to chat with people we'd never spoken to before.

We finally left the country park about 4pm.

We were both exhausted and delighted. On our way back, we listened to music and sang along.

Everyone said it was a wonderful day and we are all looking forward to next year's picnic.

St Antonius Girls' College

St Antonius Girls' College students learned about endangered species and the importance of protecting the habitats of animals through a play organised by the English Drama Society on November 11.

The story of the educational drama, Little Penguin and the Big World, begins with a penguin singing and tap-dancing happily at the South Pole. But due to melting ice and snow, she is forced to leave her home and floats to different places around the world.

During her journey, she meets endangered animals who live in the oceans, forests and urban areas. They are angry about human activities and ask her to help spread the message that people should stop damaging their living environments and protect them.

In addition to raising our awareness of environmental issues, the performance was interactive and enjoyable. Several students were invited to play games with the characters.

We were all impressed by the lively acting, music, dancing and beautiful costumes.

We would like to thank the English Drama Society for the entertaining performance.

The Chinese Foundation Secondary School

November 20 was our school's Learning Activity Day, which replaced the Picnic Day.

We visited the Water Supplies Department and the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department.

In the morning, we went to the Water Supplies Department, and listened to a talk about water treatment at the Sha Tin Sewage Treatment Works.

We discovered, to our astonishment, that we could drink the running water there direct from the source.

Next we carried out field research to get an understanding of how clean water is processed and how we can conserve water.

In the afternoon, we visited the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department. There we learned why the government was applying sustainable technology and we got to know the work done by the department.

On the roof of the building, we discovered there were renewable energy sources, such as a photovoltaic system, solar water heating and wind turbines.

This was an excellent school outing and all of the participants got a much better understanding of some key government functions.
