Peter Ho Leung is a dab hand at training any horse with a tendon problem in his past, so it was no surprise to see him draw a victory from Good Partner (Ben So Tik-hung). The gelding's troublesome left fore tendon has held him back since his late four-year-old days but, now a seven-year-old, he came to the right yard soon after a flare-up of the old injury saw him scratched from a race in May. 'His previous trainer recommended the horse be retired, so the owner gave him to me to try and I thought I could fix his problem,' Ho said after the old horse outgunned the youngster in hot favourite Jumbo Gold. 'This was the fourth race Good Partner has had with me in six weeks so obviously there is no problem when a horse can go to the races as often as that. Everything seems to have settled down. Jumbo Gold is a good young horse, but his experience was mostly at Happy Valley, while Good Partner has had plenty of experience on the bigger track here.'
