Woman killed by bus
Police are checking bus fleets after an 83-year-old woman was run over and killed in Happy Valley by a bus that a witness said could have been a Citybus vehicle.
The Wan Chai woman was hit near 25 Moreton Terrace at 3.40pm and dragged about 50 metres, according to a witness quoted by an investigating officer. The driver did not seem to have noticed the accident and did not stop, the witness said.
Police said the woman was taken to Ruttonjee Hospital, where she was certified dead at 4.01pm.
A spokeswoman for Citybus and sister company New World First Bus said police examined buses that would have been on Moreton Terrace but found no suspect vehicles. She said the companies would work with police on the investigation.
