Jockey Challenge betting took more twists and turns than a bowl of noodles - with eventual winner Willie Pike drifting to HK$200 before in-play betting finished at the start of race seven. Pike then rattled off three quick wins and a third placing in the final four races to steal the title from Alex Lai Hoi-wing, who had all but stitched up the challenge in the first half of the card. Lai was listed at the prohibitive odds of HK$1.06 after five races with 34 points recorded from two wins, a second and a third. Pike's hat-trick of wins momentarily took him to the lead with 36 points before Lai was given the photo decision for third in the ninth race to move him back on top with 38. But Pike, who started at HK$35 in opening betting, was not finished and also got a successful verdict in a photo for third in the final race to pinch the Challenge in the last stride.
