Agenda - Limited Editions

Lust in space

In honour of Breitling's 125th anniversary, the Swiss watch maker is revisiting its role in the space race by issuing a limited-edition version of the Cosmonaute. In the 1960s Breitling's Navitimer chronograph, with hours indicated in 24-hour increments, was called the Cosmonaute and was the first chronograph to make it into space. Lt Commander Scott Carpenter of NASA wore the watch on a space mission on May 24, 1962. The Breitling Cosmonaute Limited Edition is issued in a series of 1,000 pieces, all with a new version of the 24-hour dial and fitted with the perforated Air Racer bracelet and is water resistant to 300 metres.

Creative combo

Richard Mille and Laurent Picciotto have joined creative forces to launch the latest addition to the Richard Mille collection - the RM 010 Chronopassion limited edition. The model marks the long-standing friendship and business partnership between Mille and Picciotto, owner of Chronopassion. The new RM 010 Chronopassion limited edition is an adaptation of the original RM 010 and one of the few limited-edition pieces to have attracted Richard Mille's collaboration.

TAG team

Tag Heuer's Monaco V4 bucks conventional wisdom by replacing the time-honoured gears approach first pioneered in the 18th century for belt-driven technology usually found in car engines. The Swiss watch company has ditched pinions and wheels for a belt-driven transmission. Five tiny belts are used in the watch, each as thick as a single human hair. The Monaco watch was first seen on the wrist of Steve McQueen in the 1971 racing film Le Mans. This version was initially revealed as a concept watch in 2004.

Strength & honour

Omega launched its Seamaster in 1948, and to honour the event the watch maker has launched its Seamaster Planet Ocean Liquidmetal - in a limited edition of 1,948 pieces. The watch features a ceramic bezel with the numbers and scale made from Liquidmetal, an alloy created by Swatch Group researchers collaborating with Omega's product development team.
