Former district councillor guilty of fraud

Former North District councillor Au Wai-kwan, 58, was found guilty in the District Court of falsely claiming to have spent HK$737,000 on the salaries of two assistants. Au had pleaded not guilty but was convicted of seven counts of fraud by Deputy Judge Anthony Kwok Kai-on. Au, whose wife was found not guilty, was remanded in custody to await sentencing.
