Firm has party ties

The Kang Da Law Firm is one of the 10 top law firms in China. Its president and founder, Fu Yang, is the fourth son of Peng Zhen, former chairman of National People's Congress from 1983 to 1988 and one of the powerful party elders known as the 'Eight Immortals'.

Other partners of the firm also have strong political background. Partner Zheng Xiaohu is the son of Zheng Tianxiang , former president of the Supreme People's Court from 1983 to 1988. Another partner Lin Xingyu is the daughter of Lin Feng, former vice-chairman of the National People's Congress.

The law firm has defended some sensitive clients including disgraced Shanghai party boss Chen Liangyu, jailed for 18 years for corruption, and former chairman of the China Construction Bank, Zhang Enzhao, who was sentenced to 15 years in jail for corruption.
