Premiership-leading jockey Brett Prebble can repel the recent charge of Douglas Whyte and dominate tonight's Jockey Challenge at Happy Valley.

Prebble has a strong line-up of seven rides and looks a value bet in the Jockey Challenge at early odds of $3.

Whyte's recent form has made him $2.50 favourite. While his book of seven also boasts some top chances, it is Prebble who looks the better value in the early market - which is billing the Jockey Challenge as a match race.

Apprentice Derek Leung Ka-chun ($14), Jeff Lloyd ($11) and Darren Beadman ($16) all have strong chances, but lack the depth to challenge the market leaders.

Prebble can get away to an early lead with Whyte sitting out the first race, and Bernini looks a solid chance for the Aussie, who boasts a more than healthy winning strike rate of 15.9 per cent.

His real bankers, however, come in races two and three where Secret Of Winning and Perfect Gear appear terrific hopes of claiming maximum points.

After sweating it out during race four, where Prebble has no ride and Whyte rides top hope Absolute Hedge, Prebble can get back in action on Fantastic Dancer (race five), Super Genki (six) and Medic Fortune (seven) in the back half of the card.

If Prebble can chalk up some points in those races, then he will be in a strong position coming to the last where his mount, Magic Sweep, looks a main player.
