People want say on payback
The people of Iceland demanded to vote on a bill this week that would see them each having to pay US$16,000. Many Europeans invested in Icelandic banks. But, when world markets crashed, they lost their money. Britain has warned that it might stop Iceland joining the European Union unless it pays up. Other countries who were ready to loan Iceland money are having a re-think. Iceland has said it will refund the money, but the people don't agree.
