Trainer Derek Cruz reported yesterday the Dubai World Cup meeting has virtually been ruled out for champion miler Good Ba Ba. The US$5 million Dubai Duty Free over 1,800m on the new Meydan track in March had been discussed as a possible option for the gelding after he took his third successive Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Mile last month. However, Cruz said the Stewards' Cup over 1,600m on January 31 will be followed by a strict diet of domestic events for the time being. 'The horse is really thriving. He's fit but putting on weight and I couldn't be happier with him,' said Cruz. 'But taking him somewhere like Dubai where the heat could get to him is a bit of a concern and we'll keep him to the programme at home for the rest of the season. However, we are thinking we could look at taking him to England for something mid-year once our season is finished.' Even if Good Ba Ba was stretched to 2,000m, his programme here would be finished by late April.
