Three on murder charge over boy's death

Police yesterday charged three teenagers, aged between 14 and 19, with murder over the death on Monday of a 15-year-old boy in Wong Tai Sin. The victim was one of five boys who were assaulted by a gang outside Lung Chi House in Lower Wong Tai Sin Estate at about 12.15am. Police found the boy with serious injuries after receiving a report that the gang was attempting to steal four mobile phones. A post-mortem examination revealed the boy died of internal bleeding due to liver rupture. Sixteen males and females, aged between 14 and 22, were arrested in connection with the case. A 15-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy were each charged with one count of conspiracy to wound with intent; they appeared in Kwun Tong Magistrates' courts on Friday and yesterday. The other nine people were released on bail pending further inquiries and two people were released unconditionally. The case is still under investigation by Kowloon East regional crime unit.
