Students from 173 secondary schools are displaying their talent at an annual visual arts exhibition.

This year's Exhibition of Secondary School Students' Creative Visual Arts Work (2009/10) features 500 pieces by students from around the city.

Pieces include drawings, paintings, printmaking, media art, photography, sculptures, ceramics and design. Each artwork is annotated by an explanation by the student.

The event attracted more than 1,600 entries. The displayed pieces were chosen because they stood out in terms of creativity, aesthetics, techniques and use of media. Also on display are 90 drawings, paintings and graphic designs by HKCEE candidates.

The exhibition, organised by the Education Bureau, is aimed at encouraging young people to be creative and share their experience with fellow students, teachers and the public.

Videos of the adjudicators sharing their views on the artworks are also being shown during the exhibition.

The exhibition will run at the Education Bureau's Kowloon Tong Education Services Centre until February 17. It is open Monday to Saturday, 10am to 6pm.
