Which species of animal would you take on board Noah's ark?

Walter Mak Kiu-shun, 15, Ma On Shan St Joseph's Secondary School

I would take lambs. For Christians, a lamb is a symbol of sacrifice. Although we seldom sacrifice lambs anymore, taking them on board would remind us to make sacrifices for God and not commit sins.

Kelvin Yu Chun-yin, 12, Sing Yin Secondary School

I would choose a salmon because it is a popular and delicious food. People on board could benefit from the high protein and other nutrients in this fish. What's more, salmon are very special because they are born in fresh water, migrate to the ocean and return to fresh water to reproduce.

Qurahtulain, 19, Youth College

I would take an eagle. Eagles are very intelligent creatures. I have always been fascinated by how beautiful and yet so strong they are. They have powerful bodies, and sharp beaks and claws. Many organisations use eagles as their symbol, representing power.

Alex Ko, 15, Po Leung Kuk No. 1 W.H. Cheung College

Parrots. As parrots repeat whatever they hear, I could use a pair of them to spread joy among the people on the ark. This positive energy would help to overcome the negativity brought on by the loss of their homes. Plus there would be someone else to talk to for those stuck on the ark for 40 days.

Dorothy Yim, 14, St Paul's Convent School

A pair of doves. On Noah's ark, the dove returned with an olive branch, a message of peace from God. They symbolise love and unity, concepts which would help people deal with after effects of the flood.

Jennifer Chan Quian-ying, 15, Marymount Secondary School

A horse. This versatile animal is man's true best friend. Whether as a means of transportation or a companion, horses are always there. After the flood, a horse could help accelerate the earth's reconstruction by carrying materials. As a bonus, I could fight loneliness by snuggling up to one.

Jacky Chow Cheuk-ki, 14, Carmel Secondary School

I would take a dove. They would be able to multiply their numbers very quickly after leaving the ark. What's more, according to the Bible, Noah released a dove to see if the flood was over.

Emma Tsoi, 13, Diocesan Girls' School

I would take a troop of apes. Humans originated from these animals, so when the water level lowered, the apes would give birth to descendants that would gradually evolve into humans. These humans would be my companions to start a new generation of mankind.

Amy Lau Yeung-yeung, 16, Diocesan Girls' School

Have you ever seen the giant pandas at Ocean Park? The cute creatures are not only entertaining, but a symbol of China and a gesture of friendship when sent to other countries. Pandas are more than just animals - they represent China's culture and history.
