Chicken imports to stay at 7,000 a day

Daily imports of live chickens from the mainland will remain at 7,000 before the Lunar New Year. The Food and Health Bureau says it understands the request of poultry traders for an increase in the quota but it has to consider the threat of bird flu. It estimates that the supply will meet public needs because about 268,000 live chickens are also available from local farms.
