Trainer Ricky Yiu Poon-fai was pleasantly surprised to see Plentiful claim the Yue Yee Handicap (1,200m) from the outside barrier - and says the horse will only improve for the run and can show his best once he steps up to 1,400m. Plentiful downed the Paul O'Sullivan-trained debutant Pizzazz by a head, with a further ?length to Wasabisabi in third. 'I thought Plentiful may run a place today, I didn't want to be too confident because he is only a three-year-old and to win from gate 14 is very hard,' Yiu said. 'He is a 1,400 metre horse for sure and I think he will improve dramatically once he gets up to that distance. 'You could see today that in the middle section of the race he was unable to follow the pace set by the leaders, and once he gets the slower tempo of the 1,400 metres it should suit him even more.' Plentiful was ridden by jockey Jacky Tong Chi-Kit who notched up his fifth winner for the season.
