The Cookbook Chronicles (www.thecookbookchronicles.com) exists because of a match made in foodie heaven. Lorna Yee, who writes the blog, and her husband, Henry Lo, met online (on eGullet), then in the flesh, fell in love, got married and now live in Seattle, in the United States. Their wedding was featured in Seattle Bride magazine and a meeting with the editor led to Yee being given a book contract to write The Newlywed Kitchen: Delicious Meals for Couples Cooking Together, which will be published this year.

Fortunately, The Cookbook Chronicles isn't too lovey-dovey. Yee blogs primarily about the food she and her husband enjoy at restaurants and friends' houses and about testing recipes for the cookbook. She also gives a few recipes (not too many, or there wouldn't be any point in selling the book). If you're a solo cook (like me) the premise of this publication sounds horrifying - cooking with my significant other would probably lead to a divorce before we even got married, but, hey, it works for them. The recipes aren't too arduous and can be made just as easily with two hands instead of four. Recipes include Yee's Taiwanese mother-in-law's lion's head meatballs (below), old-fashioned butterscotch pudding and her 'perfect chocolate chip cookie'.
