Safety fears halt Kitchee hopes of cutting gap

An electricity supply malfunction has caused last night's BMA First Division match between Kitchee and Tai Chung to be postponed. A Hong Kong FA spokesman said the match had to be abandoned for safety reasons after smoke was discovered coming out of the electricity supply room. The HKFA will rearrange the match at a later date. Kitchee, who finished second at the recent Fortis New Year Cup and are third in the table, were hoping to narrow the eight-point gap behind leaders South China, who have two games in hand. Elsewhere, Fourway Rangers had no problems beating Sun Hei 2-1 at Sham Shui Po Sports Ground after first-half goals from Lam Hok-hei and Sthembiso Ntombela. Chan Yiu-lun scored with a late penalty for Sun Hei.
