Super Gentleman's the one from a better gate

Super Gentleman has shown good consistency in three runs over the 1,400m at Sha Tin and is the one to beat from a good barrier in the second leg of Sunday's Triple Trio, worth an estimated HK$5 million.

Super Gentleman was sent back to the trials after doing plenty wrong in his first start over the 1,200m on September 26, but, after getting the green light from a nice grass heat in October 10, he returned a more relaxed customer and produced a good turn of foot to nail Lions' Fortune over the 1,400m on November 7.

The Derek Cruz-trained four-year-old covered ground from widest gates in his past three starts, but still came away a sound third behind A Walk In The Park, a fifth to Happy Seven and a second behind impressive Mark Up, who has since franked the form.

He tackles a richer mix of Class Three and Four runners, but Weichong Marwing has jumped off progressive Flying China to retain the ride and will give him all the favours from gate four.

Soldier has found the line strongly for a second in two runs over the 1,400m and he is dual banker play from gate five, while Travel King, Achilles Of Troy, Beauty Express, Amnesty, Eight Plus Nine, Soaring River and Flying China are capable of a top-three result.

Trainer John Size has another stalwart in his yard after an easy debut win over the straight 1,000m by Entrapment earlier this month and he has solid claims in the opening leg.

He easily put a good winning margin on a competitive Class Four field and it didn't go unnoticed by the handicapper, who whacked him 10 points and launched him into Class Three. He will have nothing to carry over a suitable 1,200m and is the standout.

Luckless Lunar Reflections, consistent Elite Sixty-Six, improving Master Touch and Turf Magic are the main dangers, while Gilded Flight and Rocket Power can add some value to the exotic.

In the final leg, it's hard to go pass the last-start winner Quantum Express, who appears the only genuine pace in the race and will take some catching.

Gold Rush, who is poorly drawn, and Splendid Champion have both been knocking on the door and are the main dangers, while impressive debut winner General Smile, Sparkling, United, Animation and Amityship merit attention as well.
