Caroliners' Chan in race to get fit

South China striker Chan Siu-ki, recovering from a right ankle ligament injury, had his first workout in a month yesterday, but is still not sure he will be fit in time for their AFC Cup group match against VB of the Maldives next week. The Caroliners will leave for the Indian Ocean club on Saturday to take on a team they defeated twice at the same stage last year. 'My ankle still hurts, but I am very happy to get back to training,' said Chan. 'I need to make progress in the next couple of days if I want to start in the match, or maybe come on as a second-half substitute.'
