As good as the real thing - and just across the road

If you can't get tickets to the stadium, but want to get among the action, head to the Sevens village.

The village, a joint venture between the HKRFU and Ironmonger Events, provides live telecasts of the Sevens directly across the road from Hong Kong Stadium. The village is signposted and the giant screen is visible from the road, as is the array of large marquees. Open at 8.30am on Saturday and Sunday, and 4.30pm for the start of the first match on Friday, fans can soak up the atmosphere in a village pub.

After the games end each day, the Sevens village hosts its infamous Big Top party. This year on Saturday night AsiaXpat brings rock band The POWz to the stage. Tickets are available at the door for HK$100. Jagermeister ski shots and jagerbombs will be the beverage du jour.

If you are looking for something more civilised, secure your ticket to the Louis Roederer Champagne Tent. Tickets are HK$300 for entry to all three nights and you can enter the Big Top Party each night with your VIP wristband.

In the champagne tent, you can rub shoulders with rugby legends, dance to resident DJs and bands. There will be a special Cristal area for those who want to do the Sevens in style. This VIP area will welcome connoisseurs who have a taste for Cristal champagne.

It seems a certainty that the three nights are going to be good times as crowds check out the party's Ultra Violet theme, inspired by the Black Eyed Peas hit song.

Ironmonger Events also offers an alternative with top-class, out-of-ground hospitality in the Indian Recreation Club. Packages start at HK$1,500 up to HK$7,900 for a full three-day package.

There are a variety of purchase options - with or without Sevens tickets. All of the options include access to the Champagne Bar and the Big Top post-Sevens parties.

The tables of 10 are set in a decorated air-conditioned marquee. On Sevens weekend, tickets include complimentary bar, breakfast bar with continental breakfast on the weekends, gourmet buffet lunch and afternoon tea.

Live coverage of all the Sevens action is on plasma screens.

Speakers will be John Bentley, David Campese, Jonathon Davies, Matt Burke and Fox Sports presenter Luke Elvy. For more information, visit www.ironmongerevents.com or phone 2973-0372.
