Forklift, driver fall down lift shaft

A worker cheated death yesterday when the forklift he was driving fell down a lift shaft at a warehouse in Tsuen Wan. Police said the 55-year-old lost control of the vehicle, which fell one floor after breaking through the door to the lift shaft. He was rescued by firemen and admitted to Princess Margaret Hospital for treatment to chest and hand injuries.

Visitor caught trafficking heroin

A 32-year-old woman from Kuala Lumpur will appear at Tsuen Wan Magistracy today to face a charge of trafficking heroin with a market value of US$1.46 million. Customs said the woman was intercepted at the airport's arrival hall on Saturday. Officers found 1.3kg of the drug hidden in her backpack.

Passenger critical after car crash

A 23-year-old Hong Kong man was in a critical condition in a Macau hospital after a car crash early yesterday. The passenger suffered a neck injury as the speeding car rammed into railings along Avenida da Amizade. The driver and another male passenger were discharged after treatment.
