I still have lots to offer, says Serevi
He won't have as much room to show his bag of tricks, but Waisale Serevi says he is ready to cast a little magic at the Tens today.
'There is not as much space in 10-a-side rugby as there is in sevens, but don't worry, I still might be able to do something. You can see it on the field,' Serevi said yesterday.
The Fijian sevens legend will be trying his hand out at 10s for the first time with the Hill and Associates Hong Kong Barbarians, a team comprising the best local players not eligible to play for the Hong Kong national side.
'I'm really looking forward to it. I have played sevens for so many years here, but I have never had the chance to play at the Tens,' Serevi said.
Although 41 and out of sevens for a couple of years, Serevi is still in shape. 'I coach the Papua New Guinea sevens team and I still run and do gym sessions with them so I'm fit. I can still run,' Serevi said.
The Barbarians are likely to slot in their guest player at flyhalf. 'I have played 10s for the last four or five years, mainly with the Malaysian team Cobras. It can be as exciting as sevens,' Serevi said.
