Ever-fashionable French players a la mode before the Sevens

The various rugby teams haven't just been working out and practising for the Hong Kong Sevens this weekend. Most of them usually attend a few social and sponsorship functions while they're in town but it's more than just lunches and dinners with their respective consulates and chambers of commerce.

The English players were at Red SoHo on Tuesday night tossing back a few with the locals. Last night, the Italian studs modelled underwear at a women-only party at the W Hong Kong hotel and even offered themselves at a kissing booth to raise money for the Breast Cancer Foundation. The ever-fashionable French players (pictured with some Hong Kong players), though, cleaned up nicely to be at casual wear Eden Park's Causeway Bay shop for its spring-summer collection cocktail on Tuesday. Naturally they were a la mode in the brand's pink shirts.

'The founder of Eden Park, Franck Mesnel, was an ex-international rugby player very famous in France. Therefore the French rugby sevens team has close ties with the founder,' said Fifi Tsai, the brand's Hong Kong manager. 'Contrary to typical thinking, rugby is a gentlemen's sport. This is usually how the French team would dress to attend events in France.'

A few members of the Hong Kong team showed up to socialise at the event before doing battle on the field this weekend.
