If you want privacy, stop looking in the city centre and head south on Hong Kong Island.

Famed luxury areas include Repulse Bay and Stanley, but if you are looking for total seclusion, Chung Hom Kok is the place to be - and even local movie stars seem to agree. 'Most residents in Chung Hom Kok are non-locals,' says Maria Cheung, senior manager of Landscope.

Comprising low-rise buildings and houses, Chung Hom Kok is a far cry from the skyscrapers of Central. Few properties are for sale as most owners prefer renting out their homes.

The average price per square foot covers a large range, from HK$18,000 to HK$30,000 for houses, and HK$12,000 to HK$22,000 for low-rise properties.

'The price depends on the view, which could be a sea view or a view of the public housing in Stanley, and the exterior and interior decor quality,' Cheung says.

A 3,500 sqft town house in Horizon Ridge, with a sea view, is on the market for HK$75 million, rounding up to HK$21,429 per square foot.

The house has four bedrooms, one including an en-suite bathroom. Interior layout is spacious, with a clear division of 'half-floors' between each area, according to Landscope.
