The Coca-Cola Co of Atlanta, Georgia, produces the popular carbonated soft drink, often referred to as “Coke”, that was invented in the late 19th century. Based on Interbrand's best global brand 2011, Coca-Cola was the world's most valuable brand.
Find out why Hong Kong is happy
Three 'happiness ambassadors' set off on a year-long voyage around the world on January 1. They plan to visit 206 countries and find out what makes people happy.
Expedition 206 is a social experiment sponsored by Coca-Cola with the aim of documenting how people in different places find something to smile about. If they stick to their schedule, the ambassadors will break the record for the most countries visited in a year. The trio, who were selected in an online vote, will travel more than 443,000 kilometres; just to compare, the circumference of the earth is 40,000km. You can follow regular updates on their journey on the official website, www.Expedition206.com, and on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
But there is also a chance to be even more closely involved in the project. Coca-Cola has launched a competition to find out what makes Hongkongers happy. There are two categories: secondary school students aged 12 and up, and the general public aged 18 and above.
Entrants must submit either a 206-word article (in English or traditional Chinese) or a video (in English or Cantonese) of no more than two minute and six seconds, showcasing a unique experience or activity that sums up Hong Kong happiness. This should be a personal insight rather than an obvious landmark or attraction. Winners will act as hosts to the three happiness ambassadors when they visit Hong Kong in late April. They will also win a trip to Expo 2010 Shanghai. The prize includes entrance tickets, Hong Kong-Shanghai air tickets and hotel accommodation.
If you would like to enter and share your ideas on what makes Hong Kong happiness unique, upload your submission to www.expedition206.com.hk by April 16.
