He'll continue to improve, says Cheyne

Jockey Greg Cheyne made it back-to-back wins on the Almond Lee-trained Public Figure and has been impressed by the three-year-old. Cheyne won on Public Figure over the same course on March 14 and was full of praise for the pair of 'grinding' wins. 'I like the horse a lot, he might be starting to find his place in the ratings now, but he's only three years old and is still a baby,' Cheyne said. 'It was a great effort to back up on one grinding win with another, and with a nice off-season under his belt I think he'll continue to improve.' Cheyne is also looking forward to taking cover on the horse and positioning him further back in the field than he has been able to in his past two wins. 'He still feels like he is not a genuine front-runner, so I think if he gets an early smother there could be something extra up his sleeve.' Public Figure nailed Amityship by a short head in the San Po Kong Handicap (1,600m), with Redoute's Fortune a 14/3 lengths away in third.
