Prebble looks good value as Whyte tops list

The Happy Valley Jockey Challenge tonight is shaping up as a showdown between premiership top guns Brett Prebble and Douglas Whyte, but in what looks a match race between the pair, Prebble is clearly the value bet at $4.50.

Whyte was posted a $1.85 favourite in the opening market and there is no doubting he will be hard to beat with eight quality rides.

However, Prebble has an equally good book of eight, boasts a terrific winning record at the city track and is hungry to extend his premiership lead of seven.

Prebble will get the chance to go straight to the front on Epee De Hua - both in the first race and in the Jockey Challenge - and should be able to notch up some early points from barrier five.

Encosta Don has drawn more awkwardly in race two, and Prebble will need to call on all his experience to navigate him to victory for trainer David Hall.

Amazing Fortune and second-starter My Good Friend have minor claims through the middle of the card, but Perfect Sprint should be able to produce just that in race five with Prebble guiding him for trainer Almond Lee.

Beautiful Dreamer, Man In The Mirror and Fortune Red Pepper all have chances, and if things go Prebble's way he will be right in the mix at the finish.
