Yung Kee in court challenge

A director of the Michelin-starred Yung Kee restaurant has applied in court for a company with a lookalike name to be wound up. Kam Kwan-sing, also known as Kinsen Kam, submitted a petition to the High Court to have Yung Kee Holdings Ltd, registered in the British Virgin Islands, liquidated. According to the Companies Registry, Yung Kee Holdings is not a shareholder of the restaurant in Central, which is owned by three other companies registered in the Virgin Islands. Passenger sues jailed bus driver

The driver jailed for crashing his tour bus in Sai Kung last year, killing 19 people and injuring 43, is being sued for damages. According to a writ filed in the District Court, Cheung Yee-wah wants damages from Hung Ling-kwok in relation to the bus crash in 2008. HK Electric claims rates, rents

The Hongkong Electric Co has filed a claim in the High Court against the Commissioner of Rating and Valuation to recover overpaid rates and government rents. The writ did not say how much money the company wanted to recoup, but it covered a period of five years from 2004. Yvonne Tsui

Spiked beer used in robbery

A 79-year-old man was robbed after drinking a can of beer offered by a woman in her 30s on a roadside in Tai Kok Tsui. The man said he passed out in Cherry Street after drinking half the beer.
