No, that's not just another cool action figure, it's the real Louis Koo
with Andrew Sun. Additional reporting by Vivian Chen.
We knew Louis Koo Tin-lok was a sci-fi geek, but we didn't know just how obsessive a collector he was. If you drop by CityPlaza in Taikoo Shing from now until April 18, you can see first-hand just some of his hoarded paraphernalia and movie action figures. On display are 110 items from his private collection, including life-size replica figures of Darth Vader, Batman (two different incarnations), two different R2D2s, the Terminator, Iron Man and Spider-Man.
'Last year at a Japanese toys collector event here, I met [Swire's Cityplaza executive] Elizabeth Kok [pictured with Koo], and that exhibition inspired me to think about displaying some of my collection,' Koo said.
'When they approached me with the idea, I immediately thought it could be done, but with a charity component, too. This is about one-third of my entire collection. If the response is good, I may consider lending out the other figurines for a future display.'
In addition to the life-size figures, there are also items from other popular hits, like Lord of the Rings, Aliens and Predator, but Koo's all-time fave is Spider-Man, which fans can take a picture with for a donation to his Louis Koo Charitable Foundation.
