The public should avoid contact with live poultry and wild birds, a spokesman for the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department said. The warning came after tests on a dead barn swallow found that it had been infected with the H5N1 bird flu. The dead bird was found on March 26 in Castle Peak Road, Yuen Long. The spokesman urged those who come into contact with live poultry to wash their hands thoroughly.
