Jen likes to sparkle in villainous role
Regularly cast in heroic roles or the romantic lead, Taiwanese singer-actor Richie Jen Hsien-chi said it felt good to play a villain in Dante Lam's action thriller Fire of Conscience.
The 43-year-old said he enjoyed the challenge of playing a police inspector with a murky past. It's a marked change from his previous roles as a laid-back beach bum in romantic comedy Summer Holiday and a righteous cop in action film Breaking News.
Jen said he hoped to play different kinds of characters in future. 'An actor needs polishing, like a diamond that needs to undergo different cutting and buffing to shine. I think this movie is my best work so far,' he said.
The film also stars singer Leon Lai Ming and mainland actor Wang Baoqiang (Blind Shaft).
