On style, she rules

My friend likes the cropped black denim jacket on the front page of the SCMP fashion insert. Can you tell me where it's from?

Cover Girl, Wan Chai

The Dictator rules: Uh, could you clarify, please? Which day? Page? We've gone through the hassle of scanning various fashion features around the time of your e-mail (March 26) and have determined that you probably mean the cover of the Attitude special report from that day. Only, the jacket is faded grey, not black, and, like most fashion shoots, you'll learn more by looking at the captions inside. Duh. The answer: it's a fitted denim jacket from Diesel (HK$3,300; 20 Queen's Road Central, tel: 2525 0540; or 6 Kingston Street, Causeway Bay, tel: 2895 1592). You might also like the fitted denim jackets at: Mango (HK$519 and up; Pacific Place, Admiralty, tel: 2918 9313); Juicy Couture (HK$3,300; Times Square, Causeway Bay, tel: 2118 2980); and Esprit (HK$350 and up; 99 Percival Street, Causeway Bay, tel: 2890 4390).

Help! I have a hot date and I'm between Brazilians. Is there anything I can do besides shaving or those nasty-smelling depilatory creams?

In Between Days, Sai Kung

The Dictator: Excuse me while I lose my breakfast. We really didn't need that much information. Regardless of location (but thanks for the visual), you can usually go for an, um, 'touch up' between full waxing sessions for a lesser fee. Hair grows at different rates and we suspect your situation has been exacerbated by plucking, a common but naughty habit. Generally, wax works well if the hair is 0.5cm to 1cm long. Oh no, you didn't just pull out a ruler, did you? Why not try this: ask for a consultation with your regular therapist, have her assess your case and quote the fee. You'll probably get charged for a normal bikini wax or 50 per cent the cost of a full Brazilian. If your spa isn't willing to accommodate your request, walk out and into: the Beautiful Skin Centre (Pacific Place, tel: 2877 8911; www.beautifulskincentre.com.hk); The Mandarin Spa (The Mandarin Oriental hotel, Central, tel: 2825 4888); or Sense of Touch (1/F, 52 D'Aguilar Street, Central, tel: 2526 6918).

I'm so annoyed. I recently bought an expensive pair of sunglasses and guess what, I lost the cleaning cloth. One of the lenses that I grabbed by accident is all foggy now and I don't want to screw up the coating by using the wrong thing. Where can I buy a new cleaning cloth?

The Blind Side, Sheung Wan

The Dictator: Do you really think a well-made pair of sunglasses would be ruined after a few wipes of, say, a tissue or a T-shirt? In Europe or the United States, we'd tell you to go back to the shop and ask for a new one. But this is Hong Kong. At Lenscrafters (www.lenscrafters.com.hk) we were immediately asked to pay HK$10 for one of its generic brand cleansing cloths. But the people at O-O Shop (Seibu, Pacific Place, tel: 2971 3870)gave us a nice cloth and refused to take payment for it. Note to readers: please don't test their goodwill by rushing there for a freebie you don't need. Surely your dignity is worth more than the HK$28 it would cost to buy a 3M Scotch-Brite Microfibre Lens Cleaning Cloth in pink, yellow, blue or green (Wing On, 211 Des Voeux Road Central, Sheung Wan, tel: 2852 1888).
