It was hard to tell if anyone at the Cheap Monday bash last Friday was even familiar with the label, but that didn't stop a young, trendy crowd from partying hard at the Crowne Plaza's Pavilion roof bar. For the record, it's a Scandinavian jeans label brought to Hong Kong by WardrobeK, co-run by Coby Ma.

'It's actually been in Hong Kong for about four, five years already in stores like Lane Crawford, D-mop, I.T., Harvey Nichols and Seibu,' Ma said. 'It's a brand from Sweden. I like its style, and its price point is very affordable. A pair of jeans is only HK$500 or so. For some customers, they might only be able to buy one or two pairs of more expensive jeans for a few thousand dollars, but they can afford more pairs of our jeans and have more style options. But we definitely are going to try to raise its profile here.'

Equally unfamiliar to the local crowd was the location of the party. The recently opened Causeway Bay venue is not exactly a regular stop on the social circuit, but the open-air bar meant people could smoke and the floor design with pools of water separating islands of seating is quite cool. 'We were thinking about using a club, but then I came here with friends for drinks and really liked the atmosphere. But I hope the water is not dangerous and nobody falls in after a few drinks.' Apparently, some people did end up knee-deep in water.
